February is a month to think about love. How many of us as adults can remember a special Valentine's Day (probably the first one after you met the person who is now your spouse)? In the first glow of love, everything is so exciting and wonderful.....kind of like the glow we all felt after the birth of our children. But sometimes, if the truth be told, (and in a month that includes Presidents’ Day, it must!) that glow occasionally fades as the realities of life settle in. Babies take work....lots and lots and lots of work. Kids get on our nerves, and certainly our spouses do too at times! We take for granted that we love our kids and our spouses, for indeed we do. It is just as true, however, that we don't always LIKE them. What I'd like to invite you to do is to look deeply for what you do like about your kids and your spouse. Take a moment each day to compliment those in your families on something that they've done for you or for another family member. I bet you'll find something of that glow returning to your lives! A very happy Valentine's day to you and yours.
